"We do not remember days, we remember moments." This novel includes topics like exploration, first loves, mental illness, and death. If you read this book have a box of tissues ready for when you want to cry and maybe for when you want to throw the tissue box at the wall of rage.

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, Holly Jackson’s debut novel, is one of the best mystery novels you will ever read. It’s a thrilling, fast-paced novel centered around a puzzling small-town murder. The main protagonist, Pippa Fitz-Amobi, is a senior in high school who decides to investigate a murder that took place in her hometown five years prior for her Senior Capstone project. Fairview’s residents seem to have accepted that Andie Bell, a teenage girl who mysteriously went missing, was murdered by her boyfriend, Sal Singh. But Pippa thinks otherwise. On her journey to prove Sal’s innocence, accompanied by Sal’s brother Ravi, she encounters death threats, bribes, drug dealers, and more dark secrets that hit closer to home than she expected. Featuring a strong, intelligent protagonist with her own flaws, well-fleshed-out characters, and formatted in a unique way, this story stands out from other YA mysteries. A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder is an addictive and intriguing book you won’t want to put down.

The Glass Castle

This memoir follows the author and her siblings as they move around the country following their misguided, eccentric parents. It explores the family's wild, conflicting journey through poverty, addiction, and loss, as well as the effects these have on the family. I think that this was a well-written book that characterized her dysfunctional family very vividly and captured small moments in her life that made the overall story hold more meaning. The memoir was structured pretty well and ended on a satisfying note.
